The iPod nano was Apple’s 3rd product line within the iPod family, the original iPod nano was launched on September 7th 2006 with the 7th and last generation launching on September 12th 2012. Apple officially discontinued the 7th generation on July 27th 2017. Over the course of 11 years Apple released seven generations of the iPod nano each with their own unique design. The very first iPod nano shipped with only 2GB of storage and overtime the iPod nano saw capacity upgrades with the final model being available in 16GB of storage. Since the release of the 2nd generation all iPod nano’s were available in a wide variety of colours instead of the standard black or white finishes. The iPod nano was aimed to perform and function much like the ‘standard’ iPod but in a smaller more cost effective product. As the iPod nano was upgraded over the years it gained features such as an accelerometer, pedometer, FM radio Nike+iPod support, Bluetooth 4.0, Multi-Touch displays and many more. When Apple officially discontinued the iPod nano the iPod family had only the iPod touch left to carry on the iPod families legacy.
