Individual Key Caps :

All 2016 and 2017 models of MacBook Pro use Type-P keycaps featuring a third generation of 'Butterfly' clip, and the new San Fransisco type face. Click on the clip type below to view available keycaps.

Although visually similar to the Type-L clips used in the 2015 Retina MacBook models, they are slightly different and we advise using the correct type for the year. Note that we previously listed the 2016 separately as Type-M but Apple has defined Type-P as a direct compatible replacement and so we have merged then and retired Type-M.

Note: Butterfly clips are NOT included with keycaps but can be purchased separately.

Caution : Removing and refitting butterfly keycaps is more complex than earlier scissor clip designs. Replacing the butterfly clip can permanently damage the plastic mount on the keyboard rendering the keyboard useless.
